I don't have a particularly funny story to share, just want to record here how kind and what a good heart Richard was.

We met through work, I was new in the UK and running a project that affected the Data Centre he managed. Richard was very diligent and always helpful, whatever the problem was he would be willing to bring up ideas and help sort it out.

But above it all, he was lighthearted and always cheerful. Never seen him complaining about anything! We quickly became friends, we both loved spicy food, growing chilies, martial arts, Neil Gaiman, a bit of fantasy. We tried doing some tai chi chuan around the lake in North Harbour a couple of times but unfortunately those sessions didn't last long, as we were always so busy with work. He was ever so thoughtful, almost every year he would gift me a little chili plant at the start of the season! Always a spicy one :P

His Halloween costumes were memorable! We would all look forward to seeing him walking around the office wearing the most outrageous costume every year!
